What should I look out for?

The choice of your battery is very important when buying an electric bike. This is because a higher-powered battery allows you to have a longer range. The strengths can range from 300 Wh to 680 Wh.

The battery

Note that the battery capacity decreases about 7% to 10% per year. So do you buy a lower capacity battery in the beginning? Then chances are you will have to renew them earlier. The higher the capacity of the battery, the longer it will last.

The engine

There are three positions where you can place the motor on your bike. You have the front wheel motor, the center motor and the rear wheel motor. The most advantageous thing is to have a center motor. As the word suggests, the position of the motor is in the middle which allows you to ride much more stable than with a front or rear wheel motor. Also, a mid-motor is the most low-maintenance and provides better support.
