It is something inevitable: every bike will need maintenance or repair at some point. And before you know it, you've lost €100 in one go. Fortunately, anyone leasing a bike can opt for a tailor-made maintenance budget. This budget serves to have your bike serviced, repaired or to buy accessories from the local bike dealer. We explain all about Cyclis' maintenance budget in this blog article.

The maintenance budget is fiscally advantageous

That you can lease a bicycle at tax savings, you probably already knew. But do you also know that it is advantageous to have your bike serviced and repaired with Cyclis’ maintenance budget?

In fact, the chosen maintenance budget is included in the monthly lease price. This means you pay for this with your gross budget. If you pay for the maintenance of your bike directly at the store, you have no tax advantage on this and pay the full amount net. That’s why we always say “better to have too high a budget, than too low.” If you have unforeseen expenses on your bike and have to pay for them all at once, it’s a major setback.

Want to avoid having a remaining budget after three years? This is totally unnecessary as you can request a voucher for this. This allows you to go for maintenance after the lease period or purchase accessories from your local bike dealer.

How much is the maintenance budget?

You can completely decide the amount you want to spend on this. The maintenance budget can range between €300 and €1200 and can be increased by €50.

Your local bike dealer can best advise you on the appropriate budget, depending on the type of bike and how intensively you will use it. The table below gives you an early indication.

We outline it briefly with an example:

You lease a €3000 bike and choose a maintenance budget of €450. For example, you have maintenance done once a year for €100. In between, you also have a flat tire and have it replaced for €50. In total, you will then have spent €350 on maintenance and repairs. You can then use the remaining €100 to buy another new helmet.

Notice:

– You can only increase the maintenance budget before the lease is signed.

– The budget may not exceed 1/3rd of the catalog value of the bicycle.

How does the maintenance budget work?

You can easily manage your budget through the My.Cyclis tool for cyclists. In this platform, you can see at any time of the day what you have already spent and what budget you have left.

Does your bike need maintenance or repair? Or are you in need of new accessories? Then you go to the bike store and show your remaining budget via your smartphone. The merchant can also track this budget online at all times. So you don’t have to pay in the store. Afterwards, the merchant invoices the amount to us and we deduct it from your remaining budget. Don’t have a sufficient maintenance budget? Then you do pay the remaining amount at the store.
